I finally pulled the trigger on a Sony RX1R II for my upcoming trip to Chicago and im so stoked to start shooting street stuff with it! But man this thing feels delicate and I really need a solid leather half case before I head out next Tuesday. I was looking at those Gariz ones because they look sleek but then I saw a few people on reddit saying the metal base plate makes it way too heavy? Then there is the Lim's design which looks nice but I cant tell if you can actually access the battery door without taking the whole thing off which would be a total dealbreaker for me.
Does anyone know a high quality leather case that actually fits tight and lets me swap batteries fast?
Honestly, I've spent way too much money trying to find the perfect fit for my Sony and most of it was pretty disappointing. I really wanted to love the Kaza Deluxe Sony RX1R II Leather Half Case but unfortunately, the leather started stretching out near the battery door after only a month of street shooting. It felt sloppy and not like a premium product. If you're still hunting, here's my take on the practical side:
The Gariz Leather Half Case Sony RX1R II is heavy tbh. The LIM'S Design Italian Leather Case Sony RX1R II works well because it has a battery door for fast swaps.
@Reply #1 - good point! However, I've found that the extra bulk of those metal plates often hinders the camera's portability. In my experience, the TP Original Sony RX1R II Genuine Leather Half Case is a more refined choice for street work.
