So what gimbals are you guys actually using with the Sony a6700 these days? I've been looking online and keep seeing the DJI RS 3 Mini pop up as the top choice but then I saw a few videos saying the Zhiyun Crane M3S is better if you want to stay really low profile. Im taking a trip to Japan in three weeks and really need something that wont kill my wrists while walking around Tokyo all day. My budget is strictly under 400 bucks so i cant go too crazy. Is the RS 3 Mini overkill for just the 6700 and a small kit lens? I just want something that balances easily without driving me insane...

Re: "Coming back to this... if you want something..."

  • Totally agree that small is king for travel! If you want an amazing ergonomic option, definitely look at the FeiyuTech SCORP-C 3-Axis Gimbal. This thing is basically fantastic for long walks!
  • The built-in handle makes underslung shots super easy on your wrists.
  • It balances the a6700 perfectly and fits easily in a backpack.
  • Well under your $400 budget!

Coming back to this... if you want something smaller for Japan, the Zhiyun Crane M3S 3-Axis Gimbal Stabilizer is probably your best bet for keeping a low profile. Its motors handle the a6700 easily and the build quality feels stable enough for a lot of walking. Another solid option is the FeiyuTech SCORP-C Camera Stabilizer. Its a bit of an underdog but the integrated handle makes low angle shots way easier on the wrists. Some things to keep in mind:

  • The M3S has a very small footprint, which is nice for crowded spots in Tokyo.
  • Feiyu gimbals usually have better built-in ergonomics for the price point.
  • Check your heaviest lens weight. If youre using something front-heavy, these smaller gimbals might struggle even if they are under the payload limit. Both of these are usually well under $300 so youll have money left over for extra batteries. Balancing takes some practice but once you lock the axes down its pretty straightforward. Its really just about not overloading the motors.

I took my a6700 to Seoul last year and the DJI RS 3 Mini Lightweight 3-Axis Gimbal Stabilizer was a total lifesaver! Seriously, its perfect. It balances so fast, which is huge when youre moving through crowds. Carrying it for 10 hours was easy and my wrists felt amazing. Tbh for under 300 bucks, its a fantastic travel buddy!
