Ugh, Im seriously losing my mind with the kit lens that came with my ZV-E10 II. It is just way too bulky for vlogging while walking around NYC and the autofocus feels kinda sluggish. Im tired of carrying this brick everywhere. Does anyone have a recommendation for a tiny prime lens under 400 bucks that actually fits in a jacket pocket?

> Im tired of carrying this brick everywhere. Does anyone have a recommendation for a tiny prime lens under 400 bucks that actually fits in a jacket pocket? I totally get that frustration! The kit zoom is definitely a drag for run-and-gun street vlogging. For that pocketable form factor, my top pick is the Sony E 16mm f/2.8 Pancake Lens. It is incredibly compact and makes the camera feel like a point-and-shoot. The 16mm field of view is perfect for wide shots while walking. Alternatively, if you want something sharper, check out the Sigma 16mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary Lens. It is a bit larger but the f/1.4 aperture is amazing for low light performance in NYC alleys. Honestly, the optical quality is fantastic compared to the kit glass. Just get the pancake if size is your absolute priority!

Honestly if you want something that basically disappears in your pocket, skip the big glass. I have been using the TTArtisan 27mm f/2.8 AF on my setup for a while now and it is tiny. Like, legitimately small enough that you wont even notice it is attached. The autofocus is surprisingly snappy for the price and it is way cheaper than the native Sony glass. If you want something wider, check out the Samyang AF 12mm f/2.0 X, tho it might push your budget slightly if you dont catch it on sale. It is great for vlogging since you get that wide field of view. Honestly just grabbing one of these manual or budget AF primes saved my back during long shoots. Let me know if you need help finding a deal.

Lol I was literally about to post the same thing. Glad someone else brought it up.

Man, I feel your pain. Honestly, I spent hours trying to make that stock lens work, but it just never felt right for city shooting. It always felt clunky and heavy, and unfortunately, I had issues with the focus sticking right when I needed it most. It is just not as good as expected for something that cost that much.

  • Honestly just look at Sigma for something sharper
  • Or try checking out Tamron if you want that build quality
  • Maybe even look into what Viltrox has been putting out lately I honestly regret not switching sooner. You shouldn't have to carry a brick around just to get decent shots. Hopefully you find something better than what we are stuck with.
