So I just picked up the Sony ZV-E10 II and honestly I have no idea where to start with lenses its all so confusing. I heard prime lenses make the background look all blurry and nice which is what I want for my vlogs but I'm on a super tight budget now after buying the camera. I've only got like $250-300 left for a lens. I'm traveling to Korea next month and really want to film myself walking around but I dont want a huge heavy setup.
Is there a specific one that's easy for a beginner? sorry if this is a stupid question i just dont want to waste money...
Building on the earlier suggestion, you should totally check out the newer third-party stuff because they are absolute bangers for the price! If you want that creamy background but need to fit yourself and the streets of Seoul in the shot, the Yongnuo YN11mm f/1.8 DA DSM WL is basically a cheat code. Its super wide and that f/1.8 aperture makes everything look so high-end... plus its right in your budget. Another amazing pick is the Viltrox AF 13mm f/1.4 STM. If you can find it on sale or used, it is a beast. It is a bit chunkier than a tiny pancake lens but the image quality is honestly insane for what you pay. I love using wider lenses like these because you dont have to stretch your arm out as far to get a good shot. Definitely stick to lenses with auto-focus like these two though, cause trying to manual focus while walking is a total nightmare lol. Youre gonna get some killer footage with either of these!
Basically, you need a wide focal length for what you want. Since the ZV-E10 II has a crop sensor, anything above 20mm is gonna be too tight for vlogging yourself at arm's length. You would basically just see your forehead and nothing else. I think these two are your best bets for that budget:
If you want the smallest setup for walking around Korea, look at the Sony E 16mm f/2.8 Pancake Lens. It's super light and cheap.
My buddy told me the exact same thing last week. Guess he was right lol.
