Which wall mount is recommended for most Sony Bravia models?

I just picked up a 65 inch Bravia for my new place in Chicago and I'm trying to get it on the wall before my housewarming thing next Friday. My logic was just to grab whatever Sanus mount they had at Best Buy but then I started reading about how the VESA holes on these Sonys are way lower down than other brands.

I saw the official Sony SU-WL850 mount online which looks cool because it sits flush but man its like 250 bucks which is way over my 100 dollar budget. If I use a standard mount is it gonna look weirdly high because of those bottom-heavy holes? I'm just confused if I actually need the branded one or if there's a cheaper slim mount that wont mess up the height...

Ive mounted a dozen Bravias over the years and yeah, those lower VESA holes are a total pain if you dont plan for them. I remember the first time I did it with an old 55 inch, I measured the center of the wall plate and the TV ended up way higher than I wanted... basically looked like a hospital room. You definitely dont need that official Sony mount. Its a ripoff imo. I usually just use a solid slim mount and adjust my drill points accordingly.

  • Sanus VLL5-B1 Fixed Position Wall Mount is super slim and stays way under your budget
  • Mounting Dream MD2268-MK Tilting TV Wall Mount is also great if you need a tiny bit of tilt for glare
  • Just measure the distance from the top VESA holes to the top edge of the screen before you drill any holes Basically, just mark your wall based on where you want the actual screen to sit, not where the mount center is. Honestly, save that extra cash for the housewarming party drinks instead... your guests wont know the difference between a cheap mount and a branded one if its level.
