So I finally pulled the trigger on a Sony X93L last week and the picture is incredible but the built-in speakers are just... not it. Ive been setting up home theaters for years and usually I go for a full receiver and wired speakers but my new place in Seattle is way too small for all that cable clutter. My logic was to just grab a Sony soundbar to keep it all in the family and avoid those annoying HDMI handshake issues I used to get with mixed brands but now Im overthinking it.
I was looking at the Sony HT-A5000 because of the Acoustic Center Sync thing where it uses the TV as a center channel but then I read some reviews saying the Atmos height channels are kinda weak on that model. So then I thought maybe the Sonos Arc? But then I lose the Sony ecosystem benefits right? Budget is about $900 and I need to buy it before my super bowl party next weekend so Im on a tight timeline here. Im honestly stressing that if I dont get a Sony bar the eARC is gonna be glitchy or the audio lag will be noticeable because that drives me absolutely insane. Does anyone actually use a non-Sony bar with a Bravia and have it work perfectly every time or should I just stick to the HT series and stop worrying...
Stick with Sony for connection reliability. I would suggest the Sony HT-S2000 3.1ch Dolby Atmos Soundbar to stay under budget.
Saw this earlier and totally agree with the first guy about staying in the ecosystem for stability. Unfortunately, the Atmos drivers on the Sony HT-A5000 5.1.2ch Dolby Atmos Soundbar are kinda underwhelming in real-world testing. Quick tip: grab a Zeskit Maya 8K 48Gbps HDMI 2.1 Cable to eliminate any handshake lag. If you want better height data, look at the Sony HT-A7000 7.1.2ch Dolby Atmos Soundbar instead.
Ive messed around with different brands for years. Sticking with a Sony setup is generally the easier path. Mixing brands can work, but the handshake glitches are a real risk...
I definitely agree about the stability stuff. My place is small too and I once had a nightmare scenario with mixed brands where the audio cut out during a game... just not worth the risk. I ended up with a Sony HT-A3000 3.1ch Dolby Atmos Soundbar and it just works without fussing.
