I’ve been trying to get into some Android gaming on my Sony Bravia, but using the remote is a nightmare! I’m looking for a controller with solid Bluetooth connectivity and minimal input lag. Should I just stick with a DualSense, or are there better third-party options that pair easily? What’s your go-to gamepad for a smooth experience?
sooo i saw this earlier but just now responding... i feel u on the remote, it's literally a nightmare for gaming lol. i've been messing with android tv setups for years, and while the official playstation pads are the default choice, you're highkey paying a premium for stuff you might not even use on a bravia. for your situation, i'd actually recommend the 8BitDo Pro 2 Bluetooth Controller. it's basically the king of value right now. it has a physical switch on the back to swap between android and pc modes, which makes pairing way more reliable than most generic pads. plus, the d-pad is miles better if ur into retro stuff. if u want something more standard, the Xbox Wireless Controller is a solid bet too. it's usually $10-15 cheaper than the sony equivalent and works flawlessly with the android bluetooth stack nowadays. basically, go 8bitdo if u want extra features like back buttons, or xbox if u just want something sturdy and cheap. both are great alternatives to the official hardware tho. peace!
TL;DR: Safety over savings! Certified gear works best. Ok so I went through this last year. I tried some generic knock-offs, but unfortunately, they were not as good as expected... the batteries got SCARY hot during long sessions. Honestly, it felt like a total fire hazard. I eventually switched to the SteelSeries+Stratus+Duo+Multi-Platform+Wireless+Controller&linkCode=osi&tag=5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">SteelSeries Stratus Duo Multi-Platform Wireless Controller and it’s been rock solid on my Bravia. It’s way more reliable and feels SO much safer. Cheers!
I'm going to have to respectfully disagree with the idea that you need a brand-new dedicated BT controller for this. Honestly, Bluetooth on these Bravias can be so hit or miss with interference, and like someone else mentioned, I'm always a bit paranoid about those cheap internal batteries overheating during long sessions... it's just not worth the risk, right? If you're okay with a bit of a DIY approach to the setup, I'd suggest going the wired or 2.4GHz dongle route instead of relying on the TV's built-in Bluetooth. I've been tinkering with a few setups and here’s what I’ve found: 1. Logitech F310 Gamepad: This is my go-to for a DIY 'safe' setup. It's wired, so it’s basically the safest option since there's no battery to worry about, and the input lag is zero. The downside is obviously the cord across the floor... definitely a trip hazard if you aren't careful!!! 2. Logitech F710 Wireless Gamepad: This uses a dedicated USB dongle. I’ve found it much more reliable than BT, though you might need a USB extension cable to get the receiver away from the back of the TV for the best signal? It’s a bit of an older design, but it’s solid for Android TV if you don't mind the chunkier feel. It takes a bit more effort to cable manage, but it feels way more reliable than fighting with pairing menus every time you want to play, you know?
- Stick with Sony PlayStation DualSense Wireless Controller. Its got the best native BT polling rate for Bravia hardware. 3rd party pads lag more on Android TV... the official hardware just *works* best tbh.
Yep, this is the way
Did this last week, worked perfectly
