I really need some help and I need it fast because I just started this new high intensity interval training class here in Chicago and the music they play is just awful lol but I have no idea what I'm looking for when it comes to headphones. I keep seeing the Sony brand everywhere but their names are so confusing like why are there so many letters and numbers like XM4 and XM5 and WH something? It's literally like another language to me and I'm totally lost.

I sweat a huge amount when I'm working out and I'm worried about them falling off my head or just breaking because of the moisture since I'm jumping around a lot and doing burpees and stuff. My budget is around 300 bucks and I really need to buy them by Friday so I don't have to listen to the gym speakers anymore. I saw some big ones that look comfy but will they get gross if I sweat on them? Or should I be looking at the little ones that go inside your ear? I really dont want to waste money on something that's gonna slide off the second I start moving fast.

Sorry if this is a super basic thing to ask but I'm just so overwhelmed with all the options and I've never bought nice headphones before. Which Sony ones are actually best for like really sweaty hard workouts?

> I sweat a huge amount when I'm working out and I'm worried about them falling off my head Check out the Sony Float Run Off-Ear Wireless Headphones WI-OE610 for those HIIT sessions! These are incredible because they use a 16mm driver and an off-ear design to maximize airflow. It prevents that gross moisture buildup entirely! Its got a solid IPX4 rating for heavy sweat, plus the neckband ensures they wont fly off during burpees. Ngl, the engineering on these is just fantastic!

Just caught this thread and wanted to offer a slightly different perspective! Re: "> I sweat a huge amount when I'm..."

  • I completely understand that anxiety because moisture is the absolute enemy of electronics. While the previous suggestions are fantastic, I have to politely disagree with jumping straight to the $300 flagships for your first pair. From a reliability and safety standpoint, it is much smarter to go with something mid-range that is specifically designed to handle movement and sweat without breaking the bank. I am absolutely obsessed with the Sony WF-C700N Truly Wireless Noise Canceling Headphones for gym use! They are incredibly lightweight compared to the heavier models, which basically means they stay locked in your ear during burpees and jumping jacks. They feature an IPX4 water resistance rating, so theyre totally safe from heavy sweat. To decode the names for you: WF stands for Wire Free (the earbuds) and WH stands for Wireless Headband (the big ones). You definitely want WF for HIIT. Honestly, these are amazing because you get high-quality noise canceling to block out that gym music, but you only spend about $100. It is a much more conservative way to start out, and you wont feel as devastated if you accidentally misplace them during a crazy workout. It is a fantastic value for the money! Good luck this Friday!

Honestly if youre doing HIIT in Chicago you gotta skip those big over-ear ones. Those WH-XM4 or XM5 models are amazing for planes but theyll slide right off your head and the leatherette pads get super gross with sweat. You need the WF line! I swear by the Sony WF-1000XM5 Noise Canceling Earbuds for my heavy lifting days. They have an IPX4 rating so moisture wont kill them and they fit way more secure for jumping around. The noise canceling is fantastic too so you wont hear a thing. If those feel too bulky, check out the Sony LinkBuds S Noise Canceling Earbuds because they are incredibly light and barely move once they are in. TL;DR: Get the Sony WF-1000XM5 Noise Canceling Earbuds because they stay put and handle sweat way better than the big WH headbands!
