I'm starting a new job that requires monthly 12-hour flights, and my current earbuds just aren't cutting it for that kind of distance. I've heard amazing things about Sony’s noise-canceling tech, but I’m torn between a few models. Since I'll be wearing them for hours on end, comfort is my top priority—especially since I wear glasses. I also need a battery that can actually last the whole trip without a recharge. Between the WH-1000XM4 and the newer XM5, which one handles engine drone better while staying comfortable for a full sleep? Any frequent flyers have a specific preference for long-haul comfort?

For your situation, I’d actually go with the older model to save some cash without losing quality. Ngl, I’ve used them for years and I'm super satisfied. Here’s the breakdown for long-haul flights: 1. Sony WH-1000XM4 Wireless Noise Cancelling Over-Ear Headphones: These are basically the sweet spot for value. Since they fold up, they take up way less room in a bag. The earcups are super deep and soft, which is a HUGE plus if you wear glasses—no pinching at all!!
2. Sony WH-1000XM5 Wireless Noise Cancelling Headphones: Noise canceling is top-tier, but they don't fold flat, which is kinda annoying for travel. The thinner headband can also start digging in after like 8 hours. Honestly, the XM4s are more cost-effective and better for sleeping on a plane. Save the extra money for a nice dinner when you land... gl with the new job!
