So I'm finally pulling the trigger on some new Sonys before my 14-hour haul to Tokyo next month. I've been a Bose guy for years but their latest stuff just isnt hitting for me anymore and I'm super hyped to switch over to the 1000X line. My logic was just to grab the WH-1000XM5 since they're the flagship, right?
But then I started looking at the folding mechanism—or lack thereof—and now I'm second-guessing everything. The XM4s fold way tighter for my carry-on but is the ANC significantly worse on those long engine hums? I need that top-tier pressure optimization for my ears too. Is the XM5 really worth the extra bulk in a backpack or should I stick to the older tech for better portability? I'm torn...
Be careful with the XM5s. My Sony WH-1000XM5 Wireless Noise Canceling Headphones were a total space hog on my last trip to London. Might want to consider the Sony WH-1000XM4 Wireless Noise Canceling Headphones instead since they actually fold down. Make sure you run the pressure optimizer at cruising altitude or the ANC wont feel right against that engine hum tho.
Late to the party but do you wear glasses?
Man I wish I found this thread sooner. Would have saved me so much hassle.
