Which external monitors work best with the Sony FX3 for filmmaking?

I've been shooting with the Sony FX3 for a few months now, and while I absolutely love the image quality and the autofocus, I’m really struggling with the built-in LCD screen. It’s just too small for pulling focus accurately, especially when I’m out on location in bright daylight. I’m looking to invest in a solid external monitor that complements the FX3’s compact build without making the rig feel too top-heavy.

I’ve been eyeing the Atomos Ninja V because I’ve heard it’s great for recording 12-bit ProRes RAW over the full-size HDMI port, but I’m also wondering if something like the PortKeys LH5P II might be better since it offers dedicated camera control? I really need something with at least 1000+ nits of brightness and solid color accuracy so I’m not constantly guessing my exposures while shooting in S-Log3. Since the FX3 doesn't have an EVF, this monitor is going to be my primary way of seeing the shot, so reliability and weight are my main concerns.

For those of you using the FX3 for professional filmmaking, what monitor are you currently using, and do you find that features like external recording or wireless camera control are actually worth the extra investment in the field?

Sooo, I went through this! I grabbed the Feelworld LUT6 6 Inch 2600nit HDR/3D LUT Touch Screen Monitor for $190. It's 2600 nits, but honestly, be careful with the mount—it feels kinda flimsy!

Basically, S-Log3 exposure is a nightmare in the sun cuz you need massive brightness to see details. 1. Try the Bestview Desview R6 UHB 5.5 Inch 2800nit Touch Screen Monitor for pure outdoor visibility.
2. Honestly, its color accuracy is disappointing compared to high-end gear, but it's way cheaper and keeps the FX3 light

Monitoring S-Log3 accurately is tough cuz the FX3 screen is tiny and dim. A high-nit external monitor basically fixes you're exposure issues in daylight. - Atomos Ninja V 5-inch 4K HDMI Recording Monitor: Best for 12-bit ProRes RAW, but kinda heavy.
- PortKeys LH5P II 5.5-inch 2200nit Camera Control Monitor: 2200 nits plus sick wireless control. I think the PortKeys is probably better to keep ur rig light, ngl. Gl!
