Hey everyone! I finally upgraded to the Sony a7R V, and I’m absolutely loving the 61MP resolution. However, I’ve realized my old glass just isn't cutting it for high-end landscapes anymore. I’m looking for a wide-angle lens that can truly resolve all that detail without falling apart at the edges. I’m torn between the versatility of the 16-35mm GM II and the compactness of a sharp prime like the 20mm G. Since I do quite a bit of hiking, weight is a factor, but I don't want to sacrifice corner-to-corner sharpness. I also use 82mm filters regularly for long exposures. Which lens would you recommend to really get the most out of this high-res sensor for landscape work?

In my experience, high-res sensors like the a7R V demand lenses with high MTF scores to avoid muddy corners. Honestly, u dont have to spend $2k+ tho. For my hiking setup, I use the Sigma 16-28mm f/2.8 DG DN Contemporary for Sony E. It's about $900 and super sharp. Just use a step-up ring for ur 82mm filters. It saves weight and tons of money... seriously, it works!! lol

I've hiked for years but gear is new! Honestly, the Sony FE 20mm f/1.8 G is amazing... way cheaper than the Sony FE 16-35mm f/2.8 GM II. Just use step-up rings! gl!
