I’m finally running out of space for my PS5 library and need a reliable expansion drive. I’m looking for a Gen4 SSD that stays cool during long gaming sessions. I've seen the WD Black SN850X and Samsung 990 Pro recommended, but which one actually has the best long-term track record for the console?

> I’ve seen the WD Black SN850X and Samsung 990 Pro recommended... For your situation, i actually grabbed the WD_BLACK 2TB SN850X NVMe Internal Gaming SSD with Heatsink on sale for around $150. honestly i dont think you need the Samsung 990 Pro 2TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe M.2 SSD cuz it's usually $30 more for basically the same experience. i mean, the WD hits 7300MB/s anyway and stays super cool during long sessions. it works perfectly and saves you cash for actual games!! gl!

Curious about one thing: what's your target budget for this?? I'm sooo excited for you! Besides the ones mentioned, check out Seagate FireCuda 530 2TB NVMe SSD with Heatsink vs Crucial T500 2TB PCIe Gen4 NVMe M.2 SSD with Heatsink. The FireCuda has amazing endurance (TBW), which is super safe long-term. The T500 runs reallyyy cool tho! Both are basically perfect for ur PS5. gl!

Seconding the recommendation above. The FireCuda is a beast, but if youre looking to save some cash, honestly check out the Nextorage NEM-PA 2TB PCIe Gen4 NVMe M.2 SSD with Heatsink. It's basically designed by ex-Sony engineers and runs super cool for way less than the big names. I've had one for two years now and it's been rock solid tbh. Just make sure to get the heatsink version!! 👍
