I just finally got a PS5 Pro after saving up for months and I'm super excited but honestly I have no idea what I'm doing with the accessories. Right now I'm just plugging the controller into the front of the console with that little cord it came with but it looks so messy with wires hanging everywhere in my living room and I'm worried my cat is gonna trip over it or something.
I saw some people have these little dock things where you just set the controller down and it charges but I don't know if the PS5 Pro needs a special one or if the regular PS5 ones work? Im really worried about buying something cheap that might fry the battery or something because these controllers are like 70 dollars each which is crazy. My budget is like maybe 25 or 30 bucks tops since I spent all my money on the actual console lol.
I guess I am looking for something that:
Do they all plug into the wall or do they have to plug into the PlayStation? Sorry if this is a really dumb question I just don't want to break my new toy. Does anyone have a recommendation for one that actually fits the Pro controllers and wont catch fire? I'm in Chicago so I can order from Amazon or whatever...
> honestly I have no idea what I'm doing with the accessories. Dont sweat it, the tech inside the DualSense controllers hasn't changed with the Pro launch. In my experience testing various peripherals over the years, you really want to avoid those super cheap 10 dollar docks from random brands. I've actually put a multimeter on a few of those generic ones and the voltage ripple is pretty bad... definitely not what you want for a 70 dollar controller. Regarding what #1 said about the standard ones working fine, they're spot on. The official Sony PlayStation 5 DualSense Charging Station is usually exactly 29.99 which fits your budget perfectly. It uses a dedicated wall plug so it doesn't drain power from the console or require you to leave it in rest mode just to charge. Plus it uses the click-in EXT port on the bottom rather than the USB-C on top. This is huge because it prevents wear and tear on the port itself over time. If you want to save a few bucks tho, the PowerA Twin Charging Station for DualSense is officially licensed and usually goes for about 20 to 25 bucks. It is solid, has a weighted base so it wont tip over, and I've found the charging curve to be very stable in my tests. It basically gives you the same safety as the Sony one but for less cash. Honestly, as long as you stick to licensed gear, your cat won't have any wires to trip over and your battery wont fry... just avoid the unbranded stuff that looks like a neon spaceship.
The standard ones work fine. I learned the hard way that cheap knockoffs get really hot, so my current setup plugs into the wall to keep the living room looking clean.
