So I just got a PS5 for the family and I am honestly so lost with all the accessories. I thought it would just be plug and play but the controllers keep dying and my kids are just leaving cables all over the floor which is driving me crazy lol. I saw some people talking about charging stations or docks but there are so many of them on Amazon and I have no idea what actually works or if I am gonna break the controllers by using a cheap one. I keep hearing about the PS5 Pro too and I want to make sure whatever I buy actually works for those controllers as well if we end up getting one later this year. I think they are called DualSense? Sorry if this is a really basic question I just dont want to waste money on something that doesnt fit right or ruins the battery.
I am looking for something that:
I was reading online that some people have had issues with their batteries getting hot if they use the wrong charger and that kind of scares me since this whole setup was pretty expensive. I live in a fairly small flat in London so I dont have a ton of space for a massive charging tower thing either. Is it better to get one that plugs into the wall or one that plugs into the PS5 itself? I saw a Sony brand one but then there are all these other ones like Razer or PowerA and I am just confused if the official one is worth the extra money. Does it charge faster? Also do the Pro controllers use the same dock? I saw a DualSense Edge in the store and it looked different so I am worried about the fit. If anyone has a setup they love let me know what brands to look for because I am totally out of my depth here...
TL;DR: The official Sony PlayStation DualSense Charging Station is your best bet. It costs roughly 25 pounds, fits the Edge controller perfectly, and is simple enough for kids to use.
Using a third-party dock has been great and Im super satisfied. Just watch out for a few things:
