What are the must-have charging docks for PS5 controllers?

I've been a playstation guy since the ps2 era so I usually just stick to the basic usb cable but the ps5 dualsense controllers are finally making me want a dock. I just moved into a new place and my media console is way more cramped now so cables hanging out the front looks like absolute trash plus my cheapo third-party charger is making this weird buzzing sound when I dock them.

I need something that actually uses the click-in charging port on the bottom instead of the usb-c on top. Im looking to spend maybe 40 bucks max and want to grab it this weekend. What are the actually good docks that dont feel like cheap plastic?

Honestly, just get the official one. I have been super happy with mine for over a year now and it never lets me down.

  • Sony PlayStation 5 DualSense Charging Station - usually 30 bucks
  • Weighted base so it doesnt slide
  • Uses the bottom click-in pins It fits perfectly in a media console and keeps everything looking clean without messy cables. No weird noises either.

I have tried many of these and most fail because of poor voltage ripple. I finally settled on the NexiGo PS5 Controller Charging Dock with 3H Fast Charging for my media room. Tbh it uses the bottom click-in pins and the build quality is surprisingly dense for the price. It handles a 5V/3A input without any of that annoying buzzing you mentioned. Usually runs about 20 bucks online.

I totally feel your pain on the buzzing sound. Buying a generic dock from a random brand on Amazon last year was a total nightmare... unfortunately, it was so light it would literally lift off the shelf when I tried to grab a controller. Plus the coil whine was driving me crazy at night while I was trying to sleep. Ngl, it is surprisingly hard to find third-party stuff that doesnt feel like a cheap toy once you get it home. Dealing with three different brands before finding something that worked was a massive headache. Since you want that click-in feel without the buzzing, here are the ones that didnt let me down:

  • PowerA Twin Charging Station for DualSense
  • Razer Quick Charging Stand for PS5 White The PowerA one is officially licensed and actually has some decent weight to it. It uses the bottom pogo pins so you dont risk scratching the plastic around the top port like you do with those weird vertical stands. If you only really need to charge one at a time, the Razer stand is built like a tank. The magnetic contact is super snappy and it looks much cleaner in a cramped console setup than a bunch of cables dangling everywhere. Spending way too much money on those unbranded ones that look like spaceships was a lesson learned. The circuitry inside is usually garbage and they never sit flat. The PowerA is basically the best third-party alternative because it mimics the click-in functionality but usually fits the budget. Just make sure whatever you get has a dedicated wall plug tho... if it draws power from the PS5 usb port while the console is off, sometimes it wont charge at full speed.
