My Pulse 3D headset literally just snapped at the hinge and I have a huge gaming session planned for this weekend so I need a replacement like yesterday. I usually know my way around hardware but I havent looked at the market in a year and it feels like everything changed. I need that full 3D audio immersion for stuff like GoW and Horizon but I want way better build quality than the official Sony ones.
Requirements:
- Budget: $250-$300 max
- Low latency wireless (must be 2.4ghz dongle)
- Comfy for long sessions because I wear glasses
Should I just go for the SteelSeries Nova 7s or is the Audeze Maxwell worth the extra weight? I'm worried about the planar drivers being too fragile if I'm honest...

Actually, you totally gotta look at the Logitech G Pro X 2 Lightspeed Wireless Graphene Drivers Headset! Those 50mm graphene drivers are incredible for pinpointing sounds in Horizon and they're way lighter than the Maxwell tho.

Man, sorry to hear about the Pulse. Those Sony hinges are basically a meme at this point because they fail so often. Since you're looking at that $300 range, you're actually in a really good spot for a massive upgrade. Honestly, the Audeze Maxwell Wireless Gaming Headset for PlayStation is the current king of sound quality. Those planar drivers give you a level of detail that makes Horizon sound like a movie. But yeah, the weight is no joke. It's nearly 500g, which is a lot compared to the Pulse. If you have a smaller frame or sensitive neck, you'll feel it during a marathon. Regarding the fragility, they aren't as delicate as old-school planars, but you definitely don't want to chuck them around. Building on the earlier suggestion, those 300 dollar sets are honestly getting too complex and fragile lately. Ive had issues with expensive hinges failing just like your Pulse did, which is a total letdown for that price. Just save your money and get the HyperX Cloud III Wireless Gaming Headset with 120-hour Battery Life. It is basically indestructible with the metal frame and way better for glasses tho. TL;DR: Avoid the overpriced plastic, stick to the HyperX for reliability and value.
