Which hand grip is actually best for the Sony RX100 VII? I leave for Switzerland next Tuesday and I'm terrified of dropping it. I saw the Sony AG-R2 but it's just a sticker? Seems sketchy. Then people say SmallRig but it looks way too bulky for my pockets and I just need something solid fast...

Dont let the 3M adhesive fool you because once that thing is on, its basically permanent. It adds zero bulk which is huge for travel. I love how it makes the camera feel totally secure without ruining the pocketable size. Its an absolute game changer for those tiny bodies!

If you want something more secure than a sticker without the SmallRig bulk, check out the J.B. Camera Designs Wood Grip for Sony RX100 VII. Its solid because it uses the tripod screw. A few things that work well:

> Then people say SmallRig but it looks way too bulky for my pockets I've tested a few and honestly, most of them just dont hit the mark for technical precision. The Fotga Metal Hand Grip Bracket for RX100 was such a letdown because the tolerance was off and it made the battery door almost impossible to open without a struggle. Total waste of twenty bucks. If you want real build quality without the SmallRig cage vibe, look at the Meike MK-RX100G Metal Hand Grip for Sony RX100 VII. Its sturdy aluminum and uses the tripod socket so no sticky residue. It adds about 80g tho, which kinda ruins the pocketability. Another route is the Richard Franiec Sony RX100 Custom Grip. Its CNC machined and feels way more premium than that rubber sticker, but they're getting harder to find and pricey. Honestly tho, just get a decent wrist strap if youre worried about the drop. Its the cheapest insurance for a trip like yours.
