so i was thinking about the official Sony rubber one but people say the glue fails in the heat? but then the SmallRig cages look way too massive for a pocket camera. im going to Japan in a week and im stressed about dropping it... what grip is actually worth it?

TLDR: Sony grip for size, SmallRig L-plate for security. I would suggest the Sony AG-R2 Attachment Grip if you need it pocketable. Be careful in high humidity tho, as the adhesive might fail. Make sure to prep the camera with alcohol first. You might want to consider the SmallRig L-Shape Grip for Sony RX100 III/IV/V/VI/VII 2230 instead; it bolts on securely and wont peel off like the rubber ones do.

> so i was thinking about the official Sony rubber one but people say the glue fails in the heat? I had the exact same issue and honestly it was super disappointing. I bought the Sony one thinking it would be the perfect fit, but the adhesive started sliding around during a humid weekend in Kyoto. It felt so unstable that I just didnt trust it anymore... I ended up switching to the Fotodiox Metal Hand Grip for Sony RX100 series and it solved the glue problem since it uses the tripod mount. Unfortunately, it does make the camera slightly taller, so it might be a tighter squeeze in your pocket. Its a solid aluminum build tho, which feels much more premium than that bit of rubber. If youre worried about drops, I really recommend the Peak Design Cuff Camera Wrist Strap too. I almost lost my camera over a bridge in Osaka because my hands were sweaty, but the Anchor Link system caught it instantly. Way more reliable than any sticker grip alone.
