I love my RX100, but it’s so small and slippery that I’m constantly worried about dropping it! I need something that improves the ergonomics without sacrificing pocketability. Should I just get the official Sony AG-R2, or are the third-party wooden or metal grips more comfortable? What are you all using for a better hold?

Yo, I totally feel u. When I first grabbed my RX100, it literally felt like holding a wet bar of soap... I almost fumbled it during a shoot in the rain, which was SO stressful. For your situation, I'd suggest looking at the technical trade-offs of the different materials. The Sony AG-R2 Attachment Grip is the standard choice cuz it's low-profile and uses 3M adhesive, keeping it super pocket-friendly. But honestly, it doesn't change the leverage much. If u want serious ergonomics, check out the SmallRig L-Shape Grip for Sony RX100 III/IV/V/VI/VII 2467. It's CNC aluminum and adds an Arca-Swiss base, which is basically an industry standard for tripods. It screws into the bottom mount so it's way more secure than tape. Just be careful tho... the extra height might make it a tight squeeze in some pockets. Lesson learned: always prioritize the mechanical connection over adhesive if you're doing heavy shooting! gl!
