Which gimbal works best for the Sony a6700 and small lenses?

So I finally pulled the trigger on the a6700 for my Japan trip next month but I am totally lost on gimbals. I'm only using small primes like the 15mm 1.4 so I dont want a massive rig. I looked at the RS3 Mini and the Zhiyun Crane M3S but reviews are all over the place. Some say the RS3 is the only way to go for Sony but others say the Crane M3S is way more portable even if the software is kinda buggy.

  • Budget: around $350 max
  • Must fit in a small sling bag
  • Needs to handle the a6700 without jittering

Anyone actually used these with the smaller lenses or is there something else I should look at?

Saw this yesterday while researching gear for my own trip. Unfortunately, the Zhiyun Crane M3S 3-Axis Handheld Gimbal was not as good as expected with the a6700. I had issues with motor vibrations even using lightweight primes.

i've been using the a6700 for a few months now and honestly you're gonna love it for a trip like japan. i went through the same dilemma last year and ended up picking up the DJI RS 3 Mini 3-Axis Gimbal Stabilizer. it fits perfectly in my 6L sling and the setup is basically weightless with those small primes. heres why i'm so satisfied with it:

  • the bluetooth shutter connects instantly every time i turn it on
  • balancing takes maybe two minutes once you get the hang of it
  • it handles the a6700 autofocus weight shifts without any jitters at all i did mess around with the Zhiyun Crane M3S 3-Axis Gimbal for a week but the app was just frustrating for me... the dji just works better with sony's protocol. if you can snag it around $300 it is easily the best investment for a light setup. you're gonna have a blast in japan with that kit!
