I recently picked up the new Sony ZV-E10 II for some lightweight filmmaking, and I’m absolutely loving the image quality so far. However, I’m struggling to find the perfect compact gimbal to pair with it. Since the camera is so small, I really want a setup that stays portable for travel vlogging without being too bulky. I usually swap between the 16-50mm kit lens and the slightly heavier Sigma 16mm f/1.4. I’ve been eyeing the DJI RS 3 Mini and the Zhiyun Crane M3S, but I’m worried about the balancing and payload. Does anyone have experience with this specific combo? Which compact gimbal would you recommend for the best balance of stability and portability?

Honestly, I'd suggest the DJI RS 3 Mini over the Zhiyun Crane M3S. I tried balancing that heavy Sigma 16mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary for Sony E on the M3S and it felt way too front-heavy... kinda sketchy tbh. The RS 3 Mini has a 2kg payload so it handles the weight way better. Just make sure to check the axis clearance tho!! good luck

For your situation, that Sigma 16mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary for Sony E is lowkey a nightmare for tiny gimbals cuz it's so front-heavy. Unfortunately, I've actually had issues with motors vibrating on smaller rigs, so I'd suggest the Feiyu SCORP-Mini 2 3-Axis Gimbal Stabilizer for a better balance of payload and price. It's not perfect, but it's more practical for ur setup. gl!

Respectfully, I'd consider another option. WARNING: those front-heavy lenses will probably kill the motors on tiny gimbals if the balance is slightly off... it's sooo frustrating!! • maybe just try a basic camera cage and handle?
• use the built-in stabilization to save money I mean, it's way cheaper and basically way lighter for travel! I'm still learning but honestly, this setup is way less of a headache... peace!

Ive spent way too much time obsessing over motor torque and payload efficiency honestly. My journey with these APS-C setups taught me that cutting it too close with weight is a recipe for disaster. I remember being out in the field and having my rig start vibrating like crazy because the motors just couldnt handle the leverage from a bigger lens like the Sigma 16mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary. It totally ruined the shoot. If you value reliability over everything else, honestly just go with DJI. You really cant go wrong with their stuff. I stopped experimenting with the smaller niche brands because their motor longevity just wasnt there for professional use. Their stabilization algorithms are just more mature and they handle the weird weight distributions of front-heavy lenses way better than the competition. Just pick any of their more recent travel-friendly options and youll be set for the long haul.
