I just picked up the Sony ZV-E10 II, but I'm struggling to see the flip screen clearly while vlogging outdoors. I need something lightweight that won't make my gimbal setup too bulky. Does anyone have recommendations for a bright 5-inch monitor that handles 4K well? I'm specifically looking for something under $250.

dude, honestly Portkeys PT5 II 5 Inch 4K HDMI Touchscreen Monitor is basically perfect. its super light for ur gimbal and bright enough for outdoors, plus its way under $250!

I went through this last year when I first started vlogging outdoors! Seriously, that Sony screen is basically invisible in direct sun. I was sooo worried about my gimbal motors crying under the weight, so I spent weeks testing different setups... it's a total balancing act between brightness and weight!! 1. Feelworld F5 Pro V4 5.5 Inch Touchscreen Field Monitor vs Desview R5II 5.5 Inch Touchscreen Camera Field Monitor: The Feelworld is amazing cuz of the external power kit for wireless gear, but the Desview is technically superior for outdoors with its 800 nits brightness.
2. Pros/Cons: High nits (800+) mean fantastic visibility, but they drain NP-F batteries way faster and can get pretty hot during long 4K shoots. Super lightweight ones, like the Portkeys PT5 II 5 Inch 4K HDMI Touchscreen Monitor mentioned before, are great for gimbals but can feel a bit flimsy if you drop 'em.
3. Best Choice: Honestly, for pure outdoor 4K work under $250, the Desview is fantastic! Just please be careful with the micro-HDMI port on the ZV-E10 II—they're super delicate and I've seen people snap them without a cable clamp!! But yeah, definitely prioritize the nit count for those sunny days. Good luck!!

Totally agree! I'd also compare these:
1. Desview R5II 5.5 Inch Touchscreen Monitor 800nit: Great budget value.
2. Viltrox DC-550 Lite 5.5 Inch 1200nit Monitor: Way brighter for sun.
Viltrox wins outdoors!

Coming back to this because i'm in the same boat! > I'm specifically looking for something under $250. tbh i'm a total beginner at this too, but i've been trying to find a *diy* way to save some cash, you know? before you spend your whole budget on a dedicated screen, have you thought about just using your phone? i'm curious what kind of phone your using right now? because if its a newer model with a high-nit screen, it might actually be better than a cheap monitor in the sun. you could just get a mount like the SmallRig Foldable Phone Mount for Camera and use the Creators' App or a cable. do you think your phone screen is bright enough to handle the glare? i'm basically wondering if that would be easier on your gimbal motors too, right?
