Just got the Sony a6700 and need a versatile zoom for travel and daily shooting. I’m debating between the compact Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 and the Sony 16-55mm G. I want great image quality without a massive footprint for street photography. Since I also do some video, what would you recommend as the best all-rounder?
> I want great image quality without a massive footprint for street photography. Story time: I snagged a used Tamron 17-70mm f/2.8 Di III-A VC RXD for $490. Stabilization and extra reach for way less cash than the Sony G was basically a win tho!
yo, I've used both and unfortunately the Sony E 16-55mm f/2.8 G Lens was not as good as expected for travel. it's just too bulky. 1. Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 DC DN Contemporary Lens for Sony E: super light, perfect for ur street shots.
2. Sony E 16-55mm f/2.8 G Lens: better optics but it's massive. idk but i'd go Sigma. it's wayyy easier to handle on the a6700.
Saving this whole thread. So much good info here you guys are awesome.
