I'm leaving for a trip to Japan next Tuesday and I'm honestly freaking out because I still havent picked a lens for my new a6700. I need one lens that can handle everything from street shots in Tokyo to family photos because I really dont want to be swapping lenses in the rain. I read that the Sony 18-135mm is a solid budget choice but then people say the low light is trash compared to the Tamron 17-70mm. But that Tamron looks massive and I'm worried about carrying it for 10 miles a day. My budget is like $800 max and I just need one do it all zoom that wont make me regret my life choices. What is the best all-around zoom lens for Sony a6700?
Unfortunately my Sony E PZ 18-105mm f/4 G OSS was not as good as expected in dim restaurants. Just get the Tamron 17-70mm f/2.8 Di III-A VC RXD. It's bulky, but f/2.8 is a lifesaver.
Seriously, the Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 DC DN Contemporary is amazing! It is half the weight of the Tamron 17-70mm f/2.8 Di III-A VC RXD and cheaper than the Sony E 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS.
I had issues with the Sony E 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS whenever it got cloudy. It just wasnt as good as expected in low light. For your trip, the Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 DC DN Contemporary is the play.
