I'm taking my ZV-E10 II to Tokyo next month and need a prime for walking vlogs. Seen people rave about the Sony 11mm f1.8 but I'm scared of that fisheye look on my face. Others say Sigma 16mm is sharper but it looks massive and heavy...

  • Budget: under $500
  • Use: handheld/gimbal vlogging
  • Needs fast autofocus

Which one actually looks natural for talking to camera?

> I'm scared of that fisheye look on my face. Quick reply while I have a sec! You totally need the Sony E 15mm F1.4 G Lens because it gives such a natural perspective! Its amazing for Tokyo since its super compact and the autofocus is blazing fast. To hit your budget, just grab a used copy! Its a way safer bet than heavy glass since you wont get tired carrying it all day. Seriously, the image quality is fantastic!

Unfortunately the Sigma was way too heavy for my gimbal. I found the Sony E 11mm F1.8 APS-C Lens looks fine if you use active stabilization.

  • light
  • fast AF
  • fits budget used

@Reply #1 - good point! Honestly tho, in my experience, that 11mm can feel a bit too chaotic in crowded spots like Tokyo. I remember my first trip there; sometimes that ultra-wide 16mm equivalent view just captures way too much background distraction. Quick question... are you gonna do mostly walking shots in tight alleys? Also, do you want a blurred background or would you consider a slightly tighter focal length for a cleaner look?

I am actually planning a trip too and honestly the thought of the gear failing mid-vlog is so stressful. You might want to be careful with how much power these new screens pull because I had a total nightmare with my setup last time.

  • batteries dying way faster than the manual says
  • generic cables not data-syncing properly
  • just the constant fear of a card error I remember being in this tiny shop once and I was so worried about my storage filling up that I spent the whole time deleting old clips instead of actually looking at the merchandise. I ended up losing some really cool footage of this street performer because I was menu-diving and then my hand started cramping from holding the grip too tight. Honestly the stress of making sure everything works perfectly makes it hard to even enjoy the walk sometimes. Anyway lol sorry kinda went off topic there.
