I just upgraded to the Sony ZV-E10 II and I’m loving the new features, but the kit lens is struggling a bit in lower light. I’m looking for a budget-friendly prime lens specifically for handheld vlogging. Since it’s an APS-C sensor, I need something wide—maybe around 11mm to 16mm—so I don't have to stretch my arm out too far. I’ve been eyeing the Sigma 16mm f/1.4, but it seems a bit bulky for daily use. Are there any more compact or affordable options that still offer fast autofocus for video? What’s your go-to budget prime for walk-and-talk vlogs on this body?
Jumping in here! Honestly, the Sony E 11mm f/1.8 or Samyang AF 12mm f/2.0 E are SO much lighter than that Sigma! Pro tip: check Arthur R on YouTube for GREAT vlogging lens comparisons.
Curious about one thing: whats ur absolute max budget? Also, do u need f/1.4 for low light or is f/2.8 enough? * Viltrox AF 13mm f/1.4 E (~$400): Fast, sharp, but kinda heavy.
* Brightin Star 12mm f/2.0 AF (~$190): Super cheap and tiny. The Viltrox is way better quality, but the Brightin Star is honestly the best budget value ngl...
^ This. Also, finding that balance between weight and price is always the struggle. Honestly tho, once you get the gear sorted, the real challenge is just not looking like a weirdo in public. I remember when I first started, I was so focused on my vlog setup during a trip to Maine that I actually dropped my lens cap right into a lobster trap. Spent like two hours trying to fish it out with a wire hanger while the local fishermen just watched and laughed at me. The pie at the diner nearby made up for it though, best blueberry filling I've ever had in my life. You gotta visit the coast if you ever get the chance, the light there is just different... anyway lol sorry kinda went off topic there.
Would love to know this too
