What is the absolute best all-in-one zoom for a6400 because I leave for Japan in five days and still cant decide? I looked at the Tamron 18-300 but its so heavy for the 6400 body but then the Sony 18-135 might not have enough reach for street stuff? I really just want one lens...

Honestly, leaving in five days is cutting it close for a gear decision. Since youre heading to Japan, you'll be doing a massive amount of walking. I would suggest being very careful about picking a lens based solely on zoom range. People always think they need that massive reach for street shots, but in reality, you rarely use the long end, and the trade-off is usually a lens that feels like a heavy brick hanging off a tiny camera like yours. Make sure to think about the ergonomics. When you put a heavy lens on that specific body, the grip isnt deep enough to balance it well, and your wrist will definitely feel it by day three. You also might want to consider the lighting situation. Those huge all-in-one lenses have narrow apertures once you start zooming in, which basically makes them useless for all the night markets or indoor shrines you'll find in Tokyo. It gets dark early in the narrow alleys, so keep that in mind. I would suggest sticking to something more compact that stops around the middle range, tbh. It is usually the sweet spot for weight and usability. If you go too big, you'll find yourself leaving the camera in your hotel room because it's a chore to carry. I've made that mistake before and regretted it... it really kills the vibe. Stick to something lighter even if you lose some reach. Most of Japan is pretty tight anyway, so you wont need a telescope to get the shot. Just make sure the lens you pick feels balanced in your hand.
