Hey everyone! I just recently upgraded to the Sony ZV-E10 II, and while I’m loving the new sensor and those improved colors, I’m struggling a bit with my lens choice. I’ve been using the 16-50mm kit lens, but whenever I turn on Active Stabilization to smooth out my walking shots, the crop factor makes everything feel way too tight. I’m basically just a giant head filling the entire frame!
I’m looking for a dedicated wide-angle lens that can give me back that extra breathing room. I’ve been looking at the Sony 11mm f/1.8 because it’s so tiny and light, which would be perfect for my GP-VPT2BT shooting grip. However, I’ve also heard great things about the Sigma 10-18mm f/2.8 for its versatility. My main concern is fast and reliable autofocus—I need it to stay locked on my eyes while I’m moving around outdoors.
Does anyone have experience with these lenses on the ZV-E10 II specifically? I’m trying to keep the budget under $700 if possible. Is the prime lens the way to go for that f/1.8 low-light performance, or is a zoom better for vlogging on the go? What’s your favorite 'set it and forget it' wide-angle lens for this camera?
Ok so, basically that software crop is 1.44x, which is why your framing feels tight. Check out Sony Alpha Blog for their AF speed charts—really helped me understand the specs. I think you might want to consider the Tamron 11-20mm f/2.8 Di III-A RXD cuz it’s usually under $700 and super sharp. Just be careful with the balance on ur grip tho!
TL;DR: Tamron 11-20mm f/2.8 Di III-A RXD is a great budget-friendly zoom.
yo! I went through this last year when I first started. I was literally just a floating head too lol. I didnt wanna spend $500+ so I grabbed the Samyang AF 12mm F2.0 E for like $320.
- 18mm equivalent view
- f/2.0 is amazing for low light
- saved me over $200!
Basically, I learned that third-party lenses are great if ur on a budget like me. it's honestly been pretty fantastic!! gl!
> the crop factor makes everything feel way too tight.
For your situation, id stick with the Sony E 11mm F1.8. It handles that Active Stabilization crop safely so you arent just a giant head, plus its super light for ur grip. Works well for me!
Solid advice 👍
