This bar is fantastic for football because the center channel is so crisp. Quick question tho: how high are your ceilings? Since it uses up-firing speakers, height really changes the immersion. It works perfectly with Bravia Sync, so you wont need a second remote or deal with any lag!

I saw this earlier but had to double check some data... iirc the eARC implementation on the A80L has been super finicky lately with third-party chips. Not 100% sure if its a firmware bug or just hardware overhead, but those handshake drops you read about are definitely a thing. It sucks because you basically have to compromise on audio quality just to get a stable CEC connection.

Unfortunately, you have run into the exact same frustration many of us had with the A80 series panels. The Sony HT-A3000 3.1ch Dolby Atmos Soundbar is a massive letdown if you arent pairing it with a discrete sub like the Sony SA-SW3 200W Wireless Subwoofer. Without that extra hardware, the frequency response on the low end is basically nonexistent, making football games sound like they are coming through a tin can. Its honestly disappointing that Sony markets it as a complete solution when it clearly isnt. Regarding the Sonos Beam Gen 2 Dolby Atmos Soundbar, the eARC handshake issues you have read about are a documented nightmare. Sonys MediaTek chipset often fails to properly negotiate the CEC protocol with third-party hardware, leading to those exact lip-sync delays that drive you crazy. I have spent way too much time power-cycling eARC ports just to get audio to sync back up on A80L panels. Its a mess. If you want to stay within budget and keep the single-remote dream alive, look at the Sony HT-G700 3.1ch Soundbar with Wireless Subwoofer. It is an older 3.1 setup, but because it is native Sony hardware, the Bravia Sync is rock solid. It comes with a dedicated sub so you wont be lacking that stadium rumble during NFL season, and the dialogue processing is actually superior to the A3000 in my experience. It is not the flashiest tech anymore, but it works without the headache.

So I just dropped way too much money on a 65 inch Sony Bravia A80L for my living room and while the picture is absolutely insane, the built in speakers are just not cutting it. Especially with the NFL season starting in like three weeks, I need to get this sorted out fast because my buddies are coming over and right now the dialogue sounds super muffled. I have a budget of around $500, maybe $600 if I stretch it, but honestly I am so anxious about getting something that doesnt play nice with the TV. I absolute hate when you have to use two different remotes or when there is that annoying lip sync delay where the audio doesnt match the mouths. It drives me absolutely crazy.

I did some reading online and everyone says to stick to Sony soundbars like the HT-A3000 because of this Acoustic Center Sync feature where the TV speakers work with the soundbar. But then I saw a bunch of reviews saying the HT-A3000 lacks bass and sounds kinda flat unless you buy the separate subwoofer which pushes it way out of my budget. On the other hand, a lot of people recommend the Sonos Beam Gen 2 for this price range, but I keep reading these horror stories on Reddit about eARC handshake issues and random audio drops specifically when Sonos is paired with Bravia TVs.

So now I am completely stuck. Is the Sony ecosystem integration actually worth sacrificing sound quality for, or is there a third-party bar that connects flawlessly without any lag or remote control issues? I just want something plug and play that wont give me a headache...
