Last year I remember trying to hold out for the Sony WF-1000XM5 and it was honestly just a total nightmare of refreshing pages and feeling super anxious about whether I was actually getting a legit pair or some refurbed junk. It is so stressful because you really want that amazing sound and the fantastic noise canceling, but the fear of getting a lemon after waiting months is just the worst! Apparently, someone in a discord group told me that the price drops arent even that consistent across different regions, which makes it even harder to plan. I think I heard that some people got lucky with early November sales that were actually better than Cyber Monday? Honestly, it drives me crazy how they toy with our emotions like that! These earbuds are fantastic but the marketing games are just exhausting, you know? Not 100% sure if 2025 will follow the same pattern, but I am definitely feeling that same hesitation right now. It is just so frustrating!

Late to the party but honestly, i learned my lesson about waiting for these big holiday drops. A couple years back i held out for a massive discount on a similar pair, only to find out after they arrived that they had major connectivity issues with my specific laptop and phone setup. It was super frustrating because i’d spent months tracking prices just to end up with a pair that stuttered constantly due to some weird multipoint compatibility bug. Basically, i saved maybe 60 bucks but lost hours of my life troubleshooting. If you're looking at the Sony WF-1000XM5 Wireless Noise Canceling Earbuds for 2025, my advice is to verify they actually play nice with your gear right now. Sometimes these newer chips are picky with older bluetooth versions. In my experience, the price drop on amazon or best buy usually hits that 20% mark, but it’s not worth the wait if you find out on day one that your source device is the bottleneck. Just something to think about before you commit to the wait tho.

Tbh I definately agree that a $50 saving isnt worth much if the hardware doesnt actually fit your use case. I saw someone mention hardware batches earlier, but you realy need to consider the technical side of the XM5 specifically before waiting. Two things to keep in mind: 1. Fitment: The XM5s use a proprietary polyurethane foam tip that is quite a bit smaller than the old XM4 ones. If you have larger ear canals or a wierd shape, you might end up spending $20+ on aftermarket silicone or foam tips anyway, which basically eats your Cyber Monday discount.
2. Codec Support: These are built for the LE Audio standard and the LC3 codec. If your playback device is older, you're basically paying for tech you cant use yet. Anyway... so basically before I give my full take, what phone or DAP are you planning to pair these with? Also, have you used foam tips before or do you usually swap them out? If you need to buy extra accessories to make them work, the 'deal' might not be as good as it looks.

But before you commit to waiting, I gotta ask: what’s ur main priority? Like, are you mainly looking for that peak ANC for commuting, or is high-fidelity LDAC sound quality ur biggest thing? I’ve done a fair bit of testing with these, and honestly, the real-world performance is so dependent on the firmware and the foam tip seal. I tend to be pretty cautious with these big holiday sales because sometimes "deals" are just a way to clear out older hardware batches that might have more battery drain issues over time. From a benchmark perspective, these are great, but the performance gap between a "deal" unit and one you buy today is basically zero—except you might get a fresher battery now. TL;DR: Expect maybe $50-70 off, but I’d value hardware reliability and immediate performance over a small discount. If ur device doesn't even support high-end codecs, the wait probably isn't worth it anyway???

From what I’ve tracked the last couple years, XM4/XM5 usually drop maybe $50–$80 max on big days, not some crazy $150 off. So if you see them hit around that range before Cyber Monday, I’d personally just grab them and not overthink it. Hope that helps a bit!

In past years I’ve seen like ~$50–70 off around BF/Cyber, not usually $100+ unless it’s a random flash or refurb. Over 2–3 years of use, that extra ~$40 you “overpay” basically disappears, but you *do* lose months of actually enjoying them. Sony also pushes firmware updates over time, so buying earlier = you benefit longer.

So IMO: expect maybe 15–25% off at best on Amazon/Best Buy, but if you know you’ll wear them daily, I’d just grab them and not stress the calendar. Hope this helps!

Hey, fun question – I kinda look at this from a “mini market research” angle.

If you zoom out and compare brands, Sony usually discounts the WF line less aggressively than, say, Samsung (Galaxy Buds2 Pro) or Jabra (Elite 8 Active). On Black Friday/Cyber Monday, Jabra and Samsung often hit that 35–40% off zone pretty fast, while Sony tends to hover more in the 25–30% off range once the product’s been out a while.

For the WF-1000XM4, we saw typical BF/CM prices like:
- Launch MSRP: ~$279
- First big promos (months later): ~$229–239
- Deeper BF/CM: ~$199-ish on Amazon/Best Buy when they were no longer “fresh”.

So for XM5 in 2025, I’d *realistically* expect something like $50–80 off on the big retailers, not some crazy $120+ slash, unless there’s a new model announced or they’re trying to clear inventory.

Brand‑wise, Sony’s “best” doorbusters usually show up on Amazon and Best Buy, with Sony’s own site often matching but rarely beating them.

If you’re brand‑locked on Sony, I’d plan around that $50–80 window and treat anything near $199–220 as a fantastic Cyber Monday price.

Hope this helps! Happy hunting!

Hi there, I’d actually factor safety/reliability into the “wait or buy now” decision more than the pure discount. Personally, I’d avoid sketchy 3rd-party Amazon sellers during Cyber Monday for the XM5 – it’s when the counterfeits and gray‑market units really spike. If you do wait, I’d stick to: Amazon *sold and shipped by Amazon*, Best Buy, or Sony’s own site, even if the price is $20–30 worse than some random marketplace seller.

Last year I saw people grab “too good to be true” XM4/XM5 deals and end up with: no Sony warranty, mismatched serials, fake tips, or used/refurb units sold as new. Returns are also messier when everyone’s slammed with holiday volume. So IMO, expect maybe $50–80 off at the legit places, and treat anything dramatically lower with suspicion. I’d rather buy a bit earlier or pay slightly more on Cyber Monday from a trusted retailer than chase the absolute lowest price and risk a dud pair.

TL;DR: if you wait, cool — just keep it to official channels and double‑check seller, return policy, and that you’re getting a US warranty. A safe, real XM5 at a decent discount beats a sketchy “killer deal” every time.

Hey, so quick story: I tried to “game” Black Friday/Cyber Monday last year for the XM4s… watched prices for weeks, waited for the big day… and the final deal was only like $20 better than what I’d already seen earlier in November. Kinda annoying.

From what I’ve seen the last 2 years:
- Typical discount: about 25–30% off MSRP, not usually a crazy $100 drop unless they’re clearing old stock.
- XM4s sometimes hit the lower prices, XM5s are usually a bit less discounted if they’re still “current”.

For a cost‑conscious plan, I’d suggest:
- Set a target price now (like “I’ll buy at $230 or less”).
- Watch Amazon, Best Buy, and Sony weekly deals starting early November, not just Cyber Monday.
- Be careful with “Lightning Deals” or sketchy third‑party sellers – make sure it’s sold by Amazon/Best Buy/Sony directly for warranty.

Lesson I learned: it’s often smarter to grab a solid pre‑Cyber Monday price you’re happy with than stress over maybe saving an extra $10–20 later. If you see ~25–30% off from a reliable seller, I’d personally just pull the trigger.

Hope this helps!
