Honestly three grand for a single lens sounds totally wild to me. I remember when I first started out and thought I needed the absolute top tier gear to get good shots. I ended up lugging around a heavy setup that just sat in my bag most of the time because it was too bulky for a casual day out. I would suggest being really careful before dropping that kind of cash on this new 28-70mm when it drops on the 19th. You might want to consider something like the Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 Di III VXD G2 instead. Its way cheaper, usually under nine hundred bucks, and for most people the f/2.0 aperture isnt worth the extra two thousand dollars. I once spent way too much on a fast prime and barely noticed the difference in my daily photos. If you really want Sony quality, I'd look at the Sony FE 24-70mm f/2.8 GM II because its already light and sharp. Just make sure to think about the weight... even if Sony says its lighter than the Canon, its still gonna be a brick to carry around all day. I'll be watching the announcement but mostly just out of curiosity... my wallet definitely isnt ready for this one.

Along with Sony a1II, Sony will announce a new FE 28-70mm f/2.0 GM lens on November 19th. It will cost around $3000. And much lighter than Canon's RF 28-70mm f/2L USM lens.
