im honestly so tired of deleting games every single time i want to try something new. my ps5 storage has been full for months and playing storage tetris is basically a part time job at this point. i tried to download the latest update for cod and it told me i needed another 60gb... i literally only have like 4 games installed??
and then there is my ps4 pro in the spare room that still has the original drive and it feels like it takes a literal eternity to boot up anything. im just fed up with the waiting times and the constant 'not enough space' notifications popping up every time i sit down to relax after work. i have about 200 to 250 bucks saved up and i really want to fix both if i can. im over in the us so i can grab stuff from amazon or best buy pretty easily but i dont want to waste money on something that isnt gonna be a huge jump in speed.
do i absolutely need a heatsink for the ps5 drive? i keep seeing mixed things online and dont want to accidentally fry my console. and for the ps4 pro is it even worth the hassle of swapping it out for a sata ssd or is the difference barely noticeable? id love some brand names that arent gonna break the bank but actually last...
@Reply #2 - good point! I felt safer using Seagate FireCuda 530 1TB NVMe with Heatsink after my last drive died. Im satisfied with:
Building on the earlier suggestion, I have a slightly different take based on my trial and error with different consoles. I used to think you had to buy the most expensive drives, but after swapping my PS4 Pro drive for a high-end one and then using a budget one for my kids console, the difference was basically non-existent because of the SATA bottleneck.
Sony specs mandate a heatsink for the PS5 to prevent thermal throttling. For your budget, this hardware config yields the best results:
