I'm super stoked because I finally managed to secure a pre-order for the PS5 Pro! Since it's a bit of an investment, I want to make sure I’m getting the absolute best out of the upgraded hardware from day one. I’ve been looking into the DualSense Edge for those competitive shooters, and I’m definitely considering a 2TB SSD upgrade since my digital library is already getting huge. I’m also a bit torn on whether the official vertical stand is actually necessary or if I should prioritize a disc drive add-on first. Are there any other essential peripherals you guys would recommend for a Pro setup? What are your top accessory picks to pair with the new console?

sooo i actually did a deep dive into the tech specs for the pro and honestly, the storage is where you gotta start. i mean yeah it comes with 2TB now which is a huge upgrade over the original model, but with games like cod hitting like 200GB+... that space vanishes fast lol. i highly recommend adding the WD_BLACK SN850X NVMe M.2 SSD 2TB with Heatsink because it literally exceeds sony's recommended 5500MB/s read speeds by a mile—it hits up to 7300MB/s. i've used one for months and the loading times are basically non-existent. having that extra overhead is great for the new PSSR upscaling cuz the system needs fast data streaming to keep those high-fidelity frames stable. as for the peripherals, the DualSense Edge Wireless Controller is basically mandatory if you're into competitive play. being able to swap out the actual analog stick modules is a life saver if you ever get stick drift—it's way cheaper than buying a whole new pad!! plus those back buttons are highkey essential for jumping and sliding without taking your thumbs off the sticks. about the stand vs drive... tbh, unless you're really tight on shelf space, the Vertical Stand for PS5 - Slim & Pro is kinda just for looks. the Disc Drive for PS5 Digital Edition - Slim & Pro is way more functional if you have a physical collection or wanna grab used games cheap. i'd prioritize the drive first since you can just lay the console flat anyway lol. also maybe check out the Sony Pulse Elite Wireless Headset to really get the most out of that tempest 3d audio tech. gl with the new setup, ur gonna love it!!

Just sharing my experience: i spent hours geeking out over specs for my storage upgrade!! Honestly, i was sooo torn between these two: 1. Samsung 990 PRO 2TB NVMe SSD with Heatsink - Pros: top-tier read speeds. Cons: pretty pricey.
2. WD_BLACK SN850X 2TB NVMe SSD with Heatsink - Pros: great value, reliable. Cons: slightly slower benchmarks? I went with the WD cuz i was worried about overspending on stuff i might not notice... gl!

It's clear that storage is the main priority so far, which makes total sense given how massive modern installs are. But since you're dropping a lot of cash on the Pro, I’d suggest looking at it from a reliability perspective first. You really don't want a power spike ruining that hardware on day one, right? Here are some safer, budget-conscious essentials I'd recommend: * CyberPower CP1500PFCLCD PFC Sinewave UPS - Honestly, this is the best 'accessory' you can buy. It's basically an insurance policy against power surges or dirty power, which can be killer for high-end consoles. * Crucial T500 2TB Gen4 NVMe SSD with Heatsink - If you want reliable 2TB expansion without paying the 'brand tax' on the others mentioned, this one is consistently cheaper while being just as dependable.
* Zeskit Maya 8K 48Gbps Ultra High Speed HDMI Cable - If the stock cable doesn't reach your setup, don't risk it with cheap uncertified ones. This is reliable and prevents those annoying blackouts at 4K/120Hz. Basically, I'd prioritize protecting your investment and getting stable performance over the flashy extras for now!!!

Been thinking about this and honestly, it just drives me crazy how much of a headache it is to get a decent setup these days. The whole situation is just so disappointing.

  • Fact that a Pro console doesnt even come with a disc drive or a stand is a total scam. You pay a premium price and still have to buy basic parts separately? Its honestly ridiculous.
  • Reliability has been such a nightmare lately. Seeing so many issues with modern peripherals failing way too soon makes it hard to get excited, and build quality just keeps going downhill while prices go up.
  • Its frustrating how much you have to spend just to get the base experience working. By the time you add storage and parts, you are basically paying for two consoles.
  • Companies really dont seem to care about us anymore. Its all about how much extra they can squeeze out of every single purchase... really sours the mood for a new launch.
