my logic was godox is more versatile but the sony is way smaller. budget is 150 and i gotta buy today... which one works best?

I spent a whole weekend trying to make the Sony HVL-F20M External Flash work for my cousins indoor reception and honestly... it was not as good as expected. The lack of a swivel head was a huge dealbreaker because I couldnt bounce light off the side walls, so every photo had that harsh deer in headlights look. Here is why the Godox is better despite the size:

  • The Sony is tiny, but the recycle speed is painful. Youll miss the kiss or the cake cutting waiting for it to charge back up.
  • Unfortunately, the Godox TT350S Mini Thinklite TTL feels really top-heavy on the RX100 VII. It makes the setup feel like it wants to tip forward in your hand.
  • I had issues with the Sony build quality too, it just felt flimsy for the price. Stick with Godox. Having TTL and HSS is mandatory for a wedding even if it looks a bit goofy on that small camera body...
