Hey everyone! I’m getting ready for a two-week trip and decided to travel light with my Sony RX100 VII. I love the compact size, but I’m a bit worried about the notorious battery life and keeping the camera secure while walking around busy cities. I’ve been looking at small hand grips and specialized protective pouches, but there are so many options out there. Since I really want to avoid carrying a bulky gear bag, I'm trying to narrow my kit down to just the absolute essentials. If you had to pick only three must-have accessories for a Sony compact camera during travel, what would be at the top of your list?

Just stumbled on this thread. I've been messing with these compacts for years, but honestly, my kit changes every trip so I'm not 100% sure what the absolute best is anymore. If you're looking to save some cash, here's what I've been leaning towards:

  • A generic tempered glass screen protector. I think these are a must because that back screen gets scratched so easily when you're tossing it in a pocket or bag.
  • A padded lens wrap. Not sure if everyone likes these, but they're way cheaper than a specialized pouch and you can use them for other gear too.
  • A simple air blower. IIRC, someone told me these are better than cloths for travel because they get the grit out of the lens barrel without scratching the glass. Tbh, you don't really need to spend a lot on name-brand stuff. Most of the fancy accessories are just marketing. Just keep it basic and you'll be fine.

In my experience, you definately need a spare Sony NP-BX1 1240mAh Lithium-Ion Rechargeable Battery because it drains fast during 4K video. I also recommend the Sony AG-R2 Attachment Grip for better ergonomics and a Peak Design Cuff Camera Wrist Strap for security. Basically, this setup works well and im very satisfied with the results! gl!
