honestly im so fed up with the built-in mic on this sony zv-e10 ii like its supposed to be a vlogging camera right? but everytime i step outside the wind noise just completely wrecks everything and i sound like im underwater or something. i tried using one of those cheap little deadcats they give you in the box but it keeps falling off and honestly it doesnt even help that much when there is a slight breeze. i even bought this random 20 dollar shotgun mic off amazon last week and the jack snapped off inside my camera port after like two uses... luckily i got it out but ugh i am so ready to just spend some actual money and get something that works.
im super excited because im finally heading to kyoto for three weeks next month to start my travel channel and i need the audio to be crisp because i do a lot of talking head stuff while walking through crowded streets and markets. the video looks amazing on this new sensor but the sound is just letting me down so bad right now. i want that professional feel without carrying a whole studio on top of my lens.
here is what i am looking for specifically:
ive been looking at the rode videomic go ii or maybe one of those sony digital ones like the ecm-b10 that slide into the shoe mount without cables? the no cable thing sounds like a dream honestly but i dont know if they are actually good or just a gimmick. does anyone actually use those with the mark ii version? i just want something that wont break and actually makes me sound like a human being instead of a robot in a wind tunnel. what are you guys using on your zve10 setups?
Honestly, I went through the exact same thing when I first got my setup... I ended up getting the Sony ECM-B10 Compact Shotgun Microphone and it has been perfect. My trip to Osaka recently proved the difference is night and day. Since the ZV-E10 II has that digital MI shoe, this mic is a total game changer for travel.
@Reply #1 - good point! In my experience, simplicity is the key to a successful travel shoot. I've seen many people get frustrated with complex rigs and batteries dying mid-day.
Try the Sony ECM-G1 Ultra-Compact Shotgun Microphone. @Reply #1 - good point! but the G1 is cheaper and super tiny. It gets rid of cables and makes your voice pop while walking.
