Im honestly so over my current lens setup. I bought the Sony FX30 thinking I could get those beautiful wide cinematic shots for this short film im shooting in my tiny studio apartment next week but everything looks so cramped because of the crop factor. I spent like three hours trying to frame a simple kitchen scene and it just looks like a cheap vlog no matter what I do. Im actually starting to panic because the shoot is in six days and I still dont have a lens that works. My budget is capped at 800 bucks and I need something fast. Which wide-angle lens is actually going to give me that cinematic look on the FX30 without breaking the bank?

I ran into the same wall shooting a doc in a tiny basement office last year. The Sigma 10-18mm f/2.8 DC DN Contemporary saved that shoot. That extra 1mm on the wide end actually makes a huge difference in cramped spots. Its super sharp with low distortion and stays around 600 bucks. f/2.8 is fast enough for indoor lighting and the autofocus is snappy tho.

Been thinking about your apartment setup... are you planning to do much handheld work or is this all locked off on a tripod? That makes a big difference for lens weight and stabilization needs. Since you're on a budget, consider:

Grab the Sony E 11mm f/1.8 immediately! It's extremely reliable and the ultra-wide angle is fantastic, making it a safe, professional choice for your tight apartment shoots!
