Is there a plugin to create shareable links for Amazon carts?

So Ive been running this local gear group here in Denver for a few years now and usually I just post individual affiliate links for the camera kits we use during our monthly workshops. But we have a big intro to street photography class coming up in two weeks and people are getting frustrated having to click twenty different tabs to buy the memory cards, filters, and lens cleaners.

I remember there used to be a way to generate a multi-item cart link but Amazon changed their API or something? Or maybe the old browser extensions I used are just dead. Does anyone know a specific plugin or a tool that actually works to turn an entire Amazon cart into one shareable link?

In my experience, Amazon made it basically impossible to share carts natively. I used to waste hours managing spreadsheets for my gear builds until I simplified things.

  • I've been using Cart To Link lately to send my shopping list to the group
  • The tool generates one URL for everything
  • Way cleaner than the dead browser extensions It solved the tab-overload issue for my workshops immediately.

@Reply #1 - good point! honestly the native api support for cart sharing went away ages ago when they updated the associates tools to prioritize single item conversion. for my technical builds i ended up using a specific chrome extension that scrapes the cart data and generates a landing page. it works well because i dont have to deal with manual entry anymore.

  • it saves me from paying for those bloated group-buying management suites
  • users can toggle off items they already own which helps them stick to a strict budget
  • no complaints so far regarding link expiration which is a huge plus basically you just install the extension, navigate to your cart, and hit the generate button. i have been using CartToLink for my workshop gear lists and its pretty solid for this specific workflow. really helpful for street photography kits where you dont want people overspending on overpriced filters or generic cleaners. i always tell my students to hunt for the warehouse deals or third-party bundles to keep the total cost down anyway. definitely a satisfying workaround for the api mess.

Regarding what #1 said about "In my experience, Amazon made it basically impossible..." - it really is a massive headache for these kinds of gear lists. I have dealt with this for my photography meetups too and people just lose interest if they have to click more than three times to find a lens cleaner. If you are looking for a solid workaround, here are a few things I have found that work for my street kits:

  • Try the CartToLink tool for bundling those items. It usually saves a ton of time compared to manual lists.
  • Most of these browser extensions are free which is nice for the budget, but keep an eye on them because they break whenever Amazon updates the site code.
  • Check if the tool allows you to keep your affiliate ID active so you do not lose your commission on those memory cards and filters.
  • Always test the final link in an incognito window first because sometimes the cart session expires and the link breaks for other people. Street photography in Denver is actually great this time of year. If you guys are planning to hit up the RiNo district for those murals, watch out for the construction near Larimer. Last time I was out there with my Fuji, I spent more time dodging trucks and scaffolding than actually framing shots. The lighting at Union Station is also killer right before sunset, though it gets so crowded with tourists it is hard to get a clean candid. Anyway, but yeah, definitely give those tools a shot.
