im really sorry if this is a dumb question but i have no idea where to even start with this. my 30th birthday is in ten days and my parents keep asking for my list but they dont use amazon at all and dont have accounts.

i spent hours making a wishlist for my new place in seattle but when i sent the link to my dad he said it told him to sign in and he just got mad and quit. i feel so stupid but is there a way to let them see the items without them having to make an account? can they just look at it like a normal website? im really panicking because i need to get this sent out today...

Unfortunately, Amazon is not as good as expected when it comes to accessibility for non-users. I have had issues with this myself because the platform is designed to force people into their ecosystem. Even with a public link, I think they still push a sign-in wall most of the time. It is quite disappointing and honestly not very reliable for older parents who just want to see a list. I am not 100% sure if there is a permanent workaround. Someone told me that if you use the invite link specifically for viewing, it might let them browse, but IIRC, it still asks for a login once they try to click on an item detail. It is just not as reliable as it should be. I recently switched to Share Product for my personal tracking and it's much better for staying organized.

You might want to consider Share Product for better privacy settings. Just curious tho:

  • Are they okay buying from other sites?
  • Do you need it to track what's bought?

  • In my experience, that advice is spot on. I’ve tried many different tools over the years to manage family wishlists, especially since my own folks are pretty old school and get frustrated the second a login screen pops up. It's really about reliability and keeping their data safe from unnecessary tracking, which is why I am always cautious about where I put my info. A few years ago, I spent way too much time troubleshooting links that just wouldnt open for my grandma during the holidays. It was a total mess. Since then, I've learned that you just cant go wrong with Share Product if you want something that actually works without the sign in headache. Its basically the gold standard for staying organized without having to be tech support for your parents all day. Just get any list setup from that site and itll be fine. It really takes the panic out of the whole situation.
